STARBUCKS IS GIVING AWAY REUSABLE CUPS - BUT YOU'LL HAVE TO BE QUICK

If you're a keen coffee drinker you can get your hands on a free limited-edition reusable cup from Starbucks today and tomorrow.

Eco-friendly customers who want to cut down on single-use cups will be able to take advantage of the deal, which is available across the UK on 18th and 19th April.

The offer only works if you order any grande-sized iced beverage through the app.

Joining the app is free and you'll become a Starbucks Rewards member, accumulating points along with your coffee urges.

You can get your hands on any iced Starbucks drink and prices vary depending on your location - but unfortunately frappuccinos aren't apart of the deal.

Once you've ordered your drink you will be able to nab the dreamy cup, which features green, pink and yellow arms joining, alongside Starbucks' signature green logo in the centre.

You will then get your order served in the reusable cup.

If you still use the cup after the promotion ends, you can bag 25p off every Starbucks drink you purchase - frappuccinos included.

With Starbucks Star points system, you get three stars for every £1 you spent.

However, the Seattle coffee chain advises you get to Starbucks as quick as you can as there is a limited supply of the cups.

The deal is applicable at Starbucks' 1,066 stores, drive-thrus, and even click-and-collect.

But items ordered through Starbucks Delivers aren't part of the offer.

The coffee giant has also announced it plans to alleviate waste with new disposable cups that contain up to 20 per cent less plastic. The cups are set to be rolled out to stores in the U.S. and Canada starting this month.

Amelia Landers, Starbucks´ vice president of product innovation, said the Seattle-based company spent the last four years developing the new containers. Engineers tested thousands of iterations to see how much plastic they could remove while still making the cup feel sturdy.

'We feel like it´s industry-leading,' Landers said. 'It´s the best expression of a cold plastic cup.'

The company estimates the new cups will keep more than 13.5 million pounds of plastic out of landfills each year. Producing the tumblers also requires less water and creates fewer carbon emissions, a leading cause of climate change, it said.
