GAGASI FM VS PENNY NTULI: STATION TALKING TO LAWYERS AFTER R2 800 SALARY DISCLOSURE

Gagasi FM has broken its silence after Penny Ntuli expressed her dissatisfaction over the radio station’s R2 800 salary offer.

GAGASI FM TO DECIDE IF It WILL TAKE LEGAL ACTION AGAINST PENNY NTULI

According to TimesLIVE, Khulekani Shandu – the KwaZulu-Natal-based commercial radio station’s head of development and spokesperson – said the station is consulting its lawyers over the matter.

“This kind of thing, we cannot get into it publicly. I think it was unfortunate but our attorney is [busy] with the matter,” Shandu said.

He, however, said that management is yet to decide if they will be taking legal action against the social media sensation.

“At the time [she made the statement] she was still contracted at the station. For her to go public on such matters is a breach of contract. So something like that necessitates legal action but I cannot say much now about that,” Shandu said.

SOCIAL MEDIA SENSATION OPENS UP ABOUT SALARY

On Monday, Penny announced her resignation from KwaZulu-Natal-based radio station Gagasi FM. The 26-year-old, who has 1.6 million followers on TikTok, said that she was not happy with how much the station was going to pay her.

Penny shared a copy of her resignation letter to the station, as well as her new contract offer. The new contract offer reveals that Gagasi FM had given her the graveyard show on Sundays between 1:00 and 4:00. On offer was an amount of R711, 98 per show.

The media personality said that she had “gladly accepted the new show” until she was told she would be getting paid R2 800 per month. According to the radio host, her new salary would have not been too far from what she was getting paid for the past two years.

“I felt embarrassed, but I calmed down and went back to management to ask them to review my salary. With that money, I won’t be able to do anything,” she said.

Since her departure, Ntuli has received immense support from the public.

NEW JOB OFFER FOR PENNY NTULI

According to ZiMoja, ActionSA’s KwaZulu-Natal Premier candidate, Zwakele Mncwango, revealed that he reached out to the radio host with regards to a job they have found for her.

Mncwango said: “I don’t know Penny, but her story touched me, especially when I saw comments from other politicians disrespecting her. Just seeing the leaders making fun of someone’s sister is not helping. I ask those who know her to ask her to contact me. I have a job for her, it is not related to politics but it’s a good offer. She can start that work with immediate effect in the private sector.”
